This is a condition that happens when the normal superficial veins become abnormally thick and enlarged .This enlargement causes the veins to rise giving them a dark blue to purple color. These may look like short, fine lines, starburst clusters, or a web-like maze. Spider veins are most common in the thighs, ankles, and feet. They may also appear on the face. If you don’t have your family to blame for this condition then some probable causes are excessive weight gain, prolonged time spent standing, sedentary lifestyle, pregnancy and menopause. Generally sclerotherapy and laser therapy are helpful in treating spider veins.
