First of all I would like to state that proactive didn't work for me I'm not saying that it won't work fr you but a lot of the people that I know and tht I have also read about said that proactive didn't work for them either I will admit that I did like some of their products such as their shower gel because when I run and sweat a lot that actually helped prevent back pimples

Use only as a last resort and nothing is helping. In the mean time try clearasil 12 hour rapid action scrub, an exfoliated and a moisturizer at night/morning.

I don't like either. I think drug store products work better for me, as well as homemade remedies. They also cost way less. Products like proactive and dermo prescribed products are last resorts for me

It's not what is "better" per se, but what is better for your skin. Proactiv works great for some, not at all for others. For me it would be a disaster because I'm allergic to benzoyl peroxide. But I'd probably spend the $20 and give it a go before going the dermatologist route. Especially if the "fancy pills" is Accutane. That is very effective for acne, but has a scary side effect profile. Definitely not to be entered into lightly.
