Experimenting with skin products? Is it ok?

I'm trying to find the right skin products for my acne prone combination skin, how do I go about that? I'm using this app for some guidance but I still need help

Spot treatments can help on certain spots as long as you don't over do it....Many benzoyl peroxide spot treatments for example have higher concentrations than say a face wash would, and putting it all over your face will just make it really dry out and possibly cause severe flaking depending on your skin. Salicylic acid in my opinion is a lot more gentle on the skin...The mark line from Avon has a really great cinnamon apple salicylic acid treatment that I use and my skin reacts great to it. Everybodys facial skin reacts differently to products, you just have to find something that is effective yet gentle. Hope this helps :)

Keep it gentle, you don't want to use anything heavy or any sort of scrubbers, cetaphil is great for acne, it's not harsh and rinses away oils and dirt without being over bearing in turn making your skin produce more oil therefore causing you to break out! Cetaphil, and witch hazel, and a good moisturizer! Moisture loss is also another reason we over produce oil

Just recently, I completely change my skincare regimen. Needless to say, my skin broke out in areas i never even get acne. I switched back to my old regimen and try one new product at a time

I'd try something for at least three months to see maximum benefit of the products you're using. Unless it irritates your skin. If you're switching from product to product... You'll never see the results you're looking for... And it may cause irritation rather than improvement.

I agree with the answer below. You also want to try something for a minimum of 4-6 weeks to see how it effects your skin unless you have an allergic reaction then stop using the product immediately.
