Do caffeine and alcohol cause puffy eyes?

I heard people saying drinking coffee and alcohol can cause puffy eyes. Is it true? Any way I can avoid it? Thanks!

Yes its true, if your diet includes caffeine, salt or alcohol, you could be making your eyes look puffier. Caffeine, sodium and alcohol cause fluid retention, which can cause fluid to pool underneath the eyes.To reduce puffy eyes, drink more water and reduce caffeine, sodium and alcoholic beverages from the diet. Cutting back on sodium does not only mean putting less salt into your food. Additionally, canned vegetables, canned soups, chips and salty snacks are high in sodium.

Alcohol and caffeine both cause dehydration making the body retain water which can result in puffy eyes. Make sure you drink these beverages in moderation and drink plenty of water to remain hydrated.

I always feel dehydrated after caffeine beverages and alcohol. Maybe not drinking enough water causes puffy eyes?
