First and foremost, we strive to be as unbiased as possible. Not many can say that. We don’t make or sell products, promote products on our site, or take advertising from skincare manufacturers. Our mission is to provide you with the information and tools to help you make better decisions, while we remain independent and neutral.

Secondly, we utilize a unique approach. Just Like Me takes products recommendations to a whole new level. A more meaningful one. Imagine advice backed by facts instead of guesses. Many variables affect skin health and appearance-- genetics, lifestyle, health conditions, and environment, to name a few. Utilizing scientific principles and highly sophisticated algorithms, mySkin analyzes these variables for deeper insight on how products work on different skin. We look at your product experiences and preferences, and those of people who are just like you, to identify those most effective. The Just Like Me approach is based on the idea that, when someone is just like you, a product that works for her (or him) is very likely to work for you too. A simple concept that many have missed.

Who are we?

mySkin TEAM

Actually, we’re a few overly-educated MBAs (but don’t hold that against us), a few brainiac skin biophysicists (are there any other kinds?), a team of cutting-edge technologists, and several veteran clinical dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and cosmetic pharmacologists. You could say we come from different walks of life. One of us dreamed of becoming a fighter pilot. Another is a former Ranger turned culinary ‘Renaissance Man.’.

So what brought us together? You can thank Serendipity for that. But mostly it was our desire to bring a unique vision to life. Along with a common passion for innovation and skincare.

We like to think that above it all, we have pretty good skin. Our mirrors tell us we look an average 5 years younger than our birth certificates say. To keep our mirrors happy (and our modest egos), we go to great lengths to take care of our skin. With mySkin (and a bit of luck), we know we’ll enjoy good skin health for a long time. What is Just Like Me?

We’re glad you asked. It’s uncommon common sense. Just Like Me is a group of people who are…well… just like you! They share similar characteristics – like skin type, age, ethnicity, gender, diet, physical activity, stress level, even the climate where they live.

Skin is a complex organ with many variables affecting its health and how it responds to products --genetics, lifestyle, health conditions, and environment, to name a few. That means each person has a unique combination of skin characteristics. So what your best friend uses might not be best for you.

The idea behind Just Like Me is based on the notion that when someone is just like you, a product that works for her (or him) is very likely to work for you too. That’s the common sense part.

How does Just Like Me work?

Now the uncommon part. Just Like Me is a breakthrough technology. It utilizes highly sophisticated algorithms and scientific principles to analyze the variables that impact how well (or poorly) your skin responds to various products and ingredients. No easy task for us (but we’re happy to do it). We look at your product experiences and preferences, and those of people who are just like you. By considering every detail (even those you can’t believe would matter), we gain deeper insight into how products work on different skin. Then we identify the most effective products for you.

Just Like Me ratings—the Pink stars—are ratings from people just like you. It’s the average EFFECTIVENESS rating. Not how much people like that product, but how effective it is. The Yellow stars are your own ratings.
